English

Modern and rapidly developing societies require digital schools to educate productive and competent citizens. In this context, student teachers at Farhangian University must acquire the necessary qualifications to prepare for such conditions. Accordingly, the main aim of the present study was to identify the digital competencies of student teachers. From a methodological perspective, the study adopted a qualitative approach using grounded theory. The research setting included Farhangian University in Fars Province, and the participants consisted of experts and faculty members of the university. The sample was selected through purposive, theoretical, and snowball sampling, resulting in the participation of 13 individuals until theoretical saturation was achieved. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using open, axial, and selective coding, leading to the development of a paradigmatic model. The findings indicated that key factors influencing the development of student teachers’ digital competencies include a positive attitude toward technology, increased technological awareness among teachers, the formulation and implementation of educational reform frameworks, the provision of multimedia content, and teachers’ forward-looking perspectives on digital competencies. Effective strategies identified in this domain include professional interaction with colleagues, sharing digital resources, promoting digitally based educational approaches, emphasizing skill development, and focusing on digital curriculum design. To implement these strategies effectively, the integration of technology into education, the promotion of digital innovation and creativity in teacher education, and the use of technological tools should not be overlooked. Ultimately, achieving digital competencies among student teachers can lead to significant educational, social, and technological outcomes.
