Religious education is one of the most important goals of the education system in the Islamic Republic of Iran. On the other hand, reflecting on the consequences and results of implementing curricula for religious education shows the unfortunate fact that the education system has not been remarkably successful in achieving the desired goals. The authors of this article believe that a new plan should be developed for religious education, especially in the very sensitive period of adolescence or secondary school, and a new program framework should be achieved by drawing up the foundations and pillars appropriate to the changing conditions of the time. It is hoped that this preliminary effort to present a new framework for the religious education curriculum in secondary school, along with its supporting reasons and documents, will be taken into consideration by experts and those in charge of education and a review of the structure, approach, and orientations of the religious education curriculum will begin. The authors believe that the continuation of the status quo, since it does not lead to beneficial and constructive learning experiences in this field, will turn religious education in our education system into a component of an absurd curriculum that is unacceptable in any way.
