The relationship between creativity and personality traits of high school students in Tehran

Abstract

The main objective of this research was to investigate the relationship between creativity and personality traits of the 3rd grade secondary school and pre-college students in Tehran. A group of 250 boys and girls were randomly selected from the population mentioned above. Torrance Test of Creativity and personality test of NEOAC-R were administered on the sample group to assess their creativity levels and personality traits. After gathering and analyzing data, the following results were found:

1. It was shown that boys were more creative than girls.

2. The traits related to neuroticism were higher among girls than boys.

3. A positive relationship between creativity and personality factors of Extroversion (E), Conscientiousness (C), and Openness to Experience  (O) was shown.

4. There was no significant relationship between creativity and personality factors of Neuroticism (N) and Agreeableness (A).
