Abstract
The aim of the present study is to explain the professors' perception of the ethical framework of using artificial intelligence in academic research. This study was conducted with a qualitative approach and phenomenographic method. The statistical population included university professors and experts in the field of artificial intelligence and research ethics, and the sample was selected using a purposive sampling method based on predetermined criteria. The data collection process continued using semi-structured interviews until theoretical saturation was achieved. The resulting data were analyzed using content analysis. The findings were categorized into seven overarching themes, 18 organizing themes, and 56 basic themes. Dimensions such as ethical dimensions in the research process (including components such as transparency in data management, protection of individual rights of participants, and transparency and ethical protection in publishing research results); Ethical standards in the commitment dimension (including components such as the professional commitment of the researcher/researchers in the application of artificial intelligence, ensuring justice and human-centeredness in intelligence-based analyses); structural-contextual ethical standards related to artificial intelligence; property rights in the application of artificial intelligence and dimensions of behavioral ethics in the application of artificial intelligence in academic research were organized. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that attention to creating a charter of ethics in the application of artificial intelligence in academic research in various dimensions will be the basis for organizing the use of this tool in university research.
