Abstract

This study aimed to normalize the Curiosity and Exploration Inventory among high school students of Isfahan. The research design was descriptive and exploratory factor analysis. Four hundred and forty-eight students were chosen using multistage cluster sampling method in Isfahan and they filled out the Curiosity and Exploration Inventory. The data was analyzed using internal consistency, concurrent and discriminant validity and exploratory and confirmative factor analysis. The analysis was done using SPSS-21 and AMOSS. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis showed that the two factors of exploratory and absorption jointly explained 68.25 of the total variance. Furthermore, the results showed that the Cronbachs α coefficients were ranged from.78 to.83 for the extracted factors, .84 for the entire scale, and the correlation coefficient of the inventory with Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale was obtained 0.27 (p <.001). Given the appropriate reliability and validity of the Curiosity and Exploration Inventory, it can be used to measure curiosity and exploration among students’ population.
