Evaluating the efficiency of education with emphasis on allocation of resources: A super efficiency approach (Case study of North Khorāsān’s educational districts)

The main objective of this research was to evaluate the efficiency of North Khorāsān Province’s nine educational districts in the academic year of 2018-2019 using data envelopment analysis method. In this method, a set of functions and features of educational districts are considered as input and output indicators. And, given the importance and impact of the indicators on the total performance, the ratio of the weighted sum of the outputs to the weighted sum of the inputs has been calculated and evaluated as the criteria of the efficiency of the districts. To evaluate the efficiency of North Khorāsān province’s nine educational districts, data on teachers, schools, students and human resources from the general department of education of this Province have been collected. Data envelopment analysis method has been applied using three inputs and two output indicators. In addition to assessing the efficiency of each district, efficient collections, reference patterns, desirable inputs and outputs, inefficient units, strengths and weaknesses of each district, and the status of resource use have also been determined.
